Smile! Truffles and earrings and derby, oh my!

This last week has had ups (really, really awesome ups!) and downs (nothing that catastrophic), and I need to remember that I always have reasons to smile.  Four of those current reasons-

1- Homemade whiskey truffles, coated in cocoa powder!  Easy and deeeelicious.

2- These earrings.  I love these earrings.  They really appeal to my inner geologist (since my outer geologist basically just makes maps all day...).  Whats even better is that I thrifted these for like, $2.

3- A wonderful, chilly glass of chardonnay to top off an evening that doesn't involve derby practice.
4- Sorry, no picture for this one.  But my biggest reason to smile this week is that I have finally been drafted to a team within my derby league!  The team uniform that I will hopefully have soon will be the best outfit I own.  THE. BEST.

Now its time to pick an outfit for tomorrow, continue consuming my wine, and play some video games!

  1. Congratulations again! Derby is so rad.

I have a necklace that looks a bit like those earrings! Also thrifted, as a matter of fact. Man, is there anything thrift stores can't do?

  2. Thank you! Have you considered playing derby? You may fall in love! Aaand, no, I don't think there is anything the thrift stores can't do. The ones by my house are basically MAGIC, and I miss them already (sad, its been like, two weeks...)

  4. I'd love to share, these were easy, and if I do say so myself, totally delicious.

You need 7oz dark chocolate (I used semisweet), 2/3 cup heavy cream, 3 tbs whiskey, 3/4 cup powdered sugar, and cocoa powder to roll the truffles in. Just whip the cream and whiskey together till it gets thick and can hold its shape; melt the chocolate, and mix it into the whipped cream and whiskey along with the powdered sugar. I put it into the fridge for a couple hours, and then I rolled it into balls with my hands and rolled them in the cocoa powder- delicious :)
